The Centre School in Ikaalinen Activity centre The school is developing to a activity and learning centre. The main object is to make school a place where growing and learning is efficient motivated and also fun. The whole staff participates in making the decisions and guiding of the pupils. Education The basis of the curriculum is the growth to good self-esteem, self responsibility, co-operation, good manners and inquiring human being. At work we use pupil centred and co-operative ways. In our school the special education in integrated with normal classes. Pupils can study optional subjects in workshops which are formed by interest not age. Pupils participate also in tasks of the school personel. Home and school, partners in educating The parents’ commitee supports the work of the school. It organises seminars in upbringing, campaigns against drugs and intoxicating agents, organizes conserts and sales of work. The culture In our school operates also The Youth Orchestra of Ikaalinen. In the orchestra plays about 130 players in different compositions. It acts in open principle: everyone can join without entrance examination. In school clubs pupils can sing, do gymnastics, play in bands go for sports and study ADP.
